Where the craft was forged.
Before I moved to product companies, I spent twelve years at service-based companies, shipping for global clients across macOS, mobile, and web.
The pace was relentless, the problems ambiguous, and the standard non-negotiable: ship high-quality work, fast, every time. That environment built the things you can't fake later — craft discipline, systems thinking, and a bias toward execution that scales. Over those years my role moved from hands-on individual craft to design leadership at product scale, and it shaped how I approach complex problems to this day.
Robosoft Technologies
2005—2008
Creative Designer · Sole designer
I began at Robosoft in Udupi as the company's sole designer — building macOS applications for global clients when macOS engineering in India was rare and highly specialised.
Feral Interactive — Designed macOS ports for 10+ AAA titles, including Tomb Raider and Need for Speed II.
- Owned the full design lifecycle across 100+ macOS applications — interaction design, visual systems, and delivery, in close partnership with engineering.
- Designed media and utility apps for BBC, Discovery, HP, Sky TV, and Sling Player — early, large-scale exposure to consumer software and platform fidelity.
- With Feral Interactive, led the visual adaptation of 10 AAA game titles ported from Windows to macOS — Tomb Raider, Need for Speed 2, LEGO, Imperial Glory, Colin McRae Rally — ensuring native fidelity and performance.
With no design team to lean on, I built the execution discipline and technical empathy that still shape my work.
Sourcebits Technologies
2008—2011
Project Lead · Founding design team, 2008—2011
After Robosoft, I became part of the founding design team at Sourcebits alongside Ben George, helping establish the studio's design culture, operating model, and quality bar as the team scaled to 30+ designers across India, the UK, and the US.
The services division was later acquired by Globo Plc (2014) and Sourcebits was acquired by Ascendore Solutions (2017).
NightStand — Designed themes for the award-winning alarm clock app, once featured as "the alarm clock Apple forgot."
- Introduced structured workflows for research, wireframing, prototyping, and iterative validation — letting the studio ship high-quality work consistently at scale.
- Collaborated with Piotr Gajos (Apple Design Award, 2009) and alongside globally recognised designers including Everaldo Coelho and Emanuel Sá.
- Delivered for Fortune 500 clients — Intel, IBM, SAP, GE, Coca-Cola, P&G, US Army — work that contributed to 4× revenue growth in three years.
TechJini Technologies
2011—2013 & 2014—2018
Sr. UX Designer → Lead UX Designer
I worked with TechJini across two tenures, returning later to take on expanded design leadership as the organisation and product scope evolved.
Ather Grid — Led end-to-end design for Ather Grid, an app that connects riders to public two-wheeler charging stations.
- Led and mentored a team of 10+ designers, establishing goal-setting frameworks, critique rituals, and a strong culture of user-centred thinking.
- Stayed hands-on while leading — partnering with PMs, business analysts, and engineering to turn complex requirements into clear, scalable experiences.
- Designed the end-to-end Ather Grid experience for public EV charging, and delivered for Google, IRCTC, Ola, Honeywell, Ather Energy, Pepperfry, JioTV, Kochi Metro, and Petrofac — mobility, EVs, e-commerce, media, and public infrastructure.
Designing across that many domains — not just within one — is where the cross-domain instinct came from.
